Protests in Support of Asifa rock Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi
New Delhi: Students from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi staged a strong protest against the brutal rape and murder of Asifa.
Protesting students from different faculties and schools assembled at the Central library lawn from where hundreds of students joined the protest. Protesting students chanted ‘Asifa ke katiloon ko’ fansi do fansi do. They demanded stringent action against the accused. Students also raised slogans against the rape cases of Kunanposhpora, Asiya and Nelofer, Mubina Ghani etc. One of the protesting students said, “Rape accused in Kashmir’s rape cases are still roaming free. It is hoax to expect justice from the system but we do it to shake our own conscience and that of people around. We stand by Asifa and her family. She was also our sister and daughter. So, we cannot tolerate if anyone targets to satisfy his lust.”
Protesting students displayed play cards with slogans in favour of rape survivors. While talking to one of the students from science faculty, he demanded death penalty for every accused person. On the occasion students from Kashmir demanded a stringent action against those involved in different rapes cases in different parts of Kashmir. “We are not here only for Asifa but for every such girl who has been target of oppression by the weapon of rape”, said a student.
