All You Need To Know About the AMUSU’s  ‘All India Media Meet-2017’

Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union is all set to organize ‘All India Media Meet- 2017’ on April 8, 2017. Under the traditional calendar, the students’ union is obliged to arrange one national level media meet every year. The purpose of this event is claimed to reflect a good image of AMU in the national arena through the designated guests. Funds too are specially allocated in the union budget for smooth facilitation of such conference.

Ghazala Ahmad, the female cabinet member in the current AMUSU is the convener of the proposed Media Meet. While speaking with “Oracle Opinions” about the event, She said, “We will be having a Panel discussion on “Indian Media Under the Camera of Democratic Population”. I immensely feel proud and elated to inform that the program is intended to make the students of varsity aware about the role of media in today’s scenario”.

The program is scheduled to start 2:00 p.m. onwards at the historical Kennedy Auditorium to accommodate thousands of attendants.

Unlike previous years the organizers this year have invited panelists from distinguished media housed to give audience a diverse taste over the set topics.

The Students in the campus are excited about the event and also about listening to the speakers.

Rifat Jawed is one of the veteran journalist in India. He has worked with BBC for more than a decade and then decided to launch his own venture to change media culture of the country. His Janta Ka Reporter reports extensively on the issues which are often ignored by mainstream corporate run media houses that don’t fetch TRP.






Neha Dixit is an Independent journalist who has fearlessly reported on the issues concerning  gender and conflicts in South Asia. Her investigative report ‘Beti Uthao’ exposed the agenda of RSS to Hinduise tribal girls of different states.





Pankaj Jha is a senior journalist and designated at ABP news as Editor in chief. His recent blog on UP election was considered as insightful in understanding voters’ mood.






Sayeed Ansari is a News anchor and is currently working with Aaj Tak. His humble attitude of debating makes him unique among viewers and also holds very good impression in the media industry.






Omar Saleem Peerzada is  management qualified and currently holds the chair of Public Relation Officer at Aligarh Muslim University.






Sweta Tripathi is among TV journalists who quickly earned a very good impression in the industry. The chief Anchor of India 24×7 is one of the women icons in the country.




Dr. Shafey Kidwai is a Professor, a much-known face of Mass Communication Department, AMU. He has been teaching in the department for more than 30 years and has also written and translated dozens of books. He writes regularly on literary theories, culture, and media for a number of English and Urdu periodicals and newspapers including The Hindu Friday Review. He has been on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed journals including Global Media published by Purdue University, US, and Calcutta University.



Anupam Pandey is a young journalist at Outlook India. A student of Jamia Millia Islamia is a vocal voice on social sites.







Asad Ashraf is an emerging journalist who has gained a reputation in very early years of his career. Presently working as a principle correspondent for ‘The Statesman’ , he writes regularly for several media portals  including Al Jazeera. His outstanding report on the sale of rape videos in Uttar Pradesh brought sensation in the country.



It would be interesting to listen to the distinguish speakers especially when media industry is facing harsh criticisms over corporate nexus and the agenda of pumping right wing ideology in the country. In the era of postmodern truth, students in the campus are hopeful to have a comprehensive understanding of the diverse themes.
