From individuals to retailers to wholesalers, GST will make everyone in the sate directly dependent on India. Its said GST council will decide rates, levies, subsidies between center and sates but the fact is majority will have the veto and they will decide, leaving you again with a begging bowl. It was tried and tested in Newzeland, Australia, European Union but failed miserably. “Today you want to impose ‘one nation, one tax’, tomorrow it will be ‘one nation one education’ and then ‘one nation, one constitution’ and so on and thus erode whatever is left of the so-called article 370.

History reveals that political will of Kashmiris has always been malevolently traded for petty cash or kind by hordes of pathetic political sycophants of Kashmir to satisfy the puppeteers in Delhi. For them Kashmir is a commodity, a cash cow, which yields personal returns. A prudent dinner! Oppressors masquerading as politicians; the occupation’s henchmen. What a bloody tragedy! Irony is dead.

The time is changing but for worse. Stage is being prepared to deliver another mighty blow to already battered autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir by implementing Goods and Services tax (GST), which was recently inducted in Indian constitution.Minister of Finance Haseeb Drabu , blatantly, brazenly comes up a mouthful of irritating jargons by giving credence to the same GST which he discarded in 2015. A handful of pro-India puppets cannot extend any Indian union law(s), when J&K constitution has already tailored laws and amended its own constitution more than a dozen times for its citizens. Sitting in cozy rooms in Delhi, using certain financial econometric variables may be good for India’s fiscal unification under cooperative federalism but for our state it is a catastrophic. Implementing GST in the state makes Article 370 more redundant to the point of becoming an absolute zero, leaving the people of state in total disarray. It entails total economic regulatory takeover by India from the Jammu and Kashmir government. How can a militarily occupied state be part of a co-operative federalism and one market structure? When have laws and regulations of oppressor benefited oppressed? Doesn’t it tantamount to strangling people’s aspirations.

When political will of the nation is at stake, delineating about pros and cons of oppressor’s law (GST) is puerile and nonsensical. This government is trying to give backdoor entries to Indian laws, as was the case with SARFAESI act but people of state gave them the clear message that “you cannot fool all the people al the time” and resisted it tooth and nail

GST may provide a uniform tax structure and subsume India’s miasma of local and national levies bur Jammu and Kashmir it is fraught with glitches. Whether it unifies Indian markets under one nation one tax or not but for our state it comes with occupational strings attached, nonetheless. The underlying proposition behind all those laws which are passed by union of India, with a thicket “to be extended to J&K” is just to strengthen the occupation here and puppet regimes have time and again acted at behest of New Delhi and fooled the people of the state and traded its sovereignty.

When political will of the nation is at stake, delineating about pros and cons of oppressor’s law (GST) is puerile and nonsensical. This government is trying to give backdoor entries to Indian laws, as was the case with SARFAESI act but people of state gave them the clear message that “you cannot fool all the people al the time” and resisted it tooth and nail. When the power given to you ceases to legislate laws for the people of the state; with sneer of cold command you are just exterminating and mocking the essentiality of legislature and executive and smothering judiciary to smithereens.

You can no more befool us and trade the sovereignty of our nation with your catchword “self-rule”. For your predecessor’s catchword was “autonomy”, for you its “self-rule” and for some others its “rai-shumari”. And under the garb of these words you have sold us always. You have diluted our sovereignty to an extent that whatever changes in laws and regulations takes place in India, impacts our life directly. If inflation in India affects us and leaves our economy in shambles, its because client regimes here facilitated for it and made amendments that brought us to this chaos. There are other ways of improving tax structure and providing for fiscal stimulus within the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and doesn’t require Indian union laws. Mr. Drabu economic regulations affecting state polity isn’t economics but political economy. Your alliance partner has a stated Ram Rajya agenda and under the garb of secularism they are hell bent on extending every law to our nation and you are the visible face of this expansionist agenda. Your predicament is like “if you do it you are damned and if you don’t you are doomed”, your government has lived its days.

But puppet governments here must know that this oppressed nation has come to a stage and understood, as aptly put by one of my American friend “If the oppressor can frame how you think, then he does not need to use force to make you act in ways that conform to his interests. You will do so without being coerced, worse yet, you will want to do so under illusion that is a choice you selected from series of “options”. The oppressor creates a reality which determines what is ‘possible’ and what is ‘impossible’. The lesser of two evils is a case in point. Both evils are options. We choose the lesser evil of those two options but we never stop to think; why must we choose between two evil options? And who said that I must choose exclusively between these two? It all begins with thinking, thinking outside the box”. And its is the very same thinking that has removed the shackles of fear and unnerved you and your masters. Its time people understand the magnitude of this issue and raise their voices and express their dissent against the extension of occupational laws.
